Most of the people who used it were 11 to 15 years old, but adults and especially businesses stayed away from this new social media and networking. Of course, times have changed and with it came new forms of social media including Facebook and Twitter. Unfortunately many businesses still see these sites as a place where people post that are bored or have nothing else to do. Today, there are many businesses that make use of driving traffic to their sites using social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and many others that are popping up all the time.

Social Media for Business

Social media for business did not just grow slowly over time, it literally burst on the Internet with a huge following and undertaking. Today, if your business, especially an online business is not using social media and networking, you are missing out on tons of traffic that could be sent to your site. This extra traffic ultimately means more sales! The question is why would you not want to use social media to boost your business?

If you have an online business, then you need all the exposure you can get to attract more customers. Go to Facebook, and search for any online business you can think of, you will find a presence there. One of the largest online retailers, Amazon.com has a Facebook page, with over 140,000 people who like their page. Why does such a large business need social networking? HELLO, they are smart and use every avenue available to them. Another reason they stay on top!

Do yourself a favor and check out some of the businesses in your field that are on the social media sites. Look at how they structure their pages. Of course they have a link to their main website. Someone from the company posts updates, such as sales, special promos, and adds a bit of fun in with it. The important thing to remember about any of the social media sites is it is an avenue to get people back to your website to buy products. However, you can’t just have a sales page because this would no doubt turn people off. You want to get your advertising across in a fun way, but still post comments that are purely entertaining or informational and have nothing to do with selling.

Leave a Positive Footprint!

Finally, always keep everything you write on any of the social media websites positive. Never knock your competitors because this leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths. Check your social media sites daily or hand the task to someone else so you can always address personal responses. Never post gloomy messages and stay clear of politics or religion (unless your business deals with one or the other) because this will surely begin online arguing.

Social media is here to stay, use it to your advantage to boost your online business!

The last time I checked, the more clients a business had, the more money they made. And money (correct me if I’m wrong) is a good thing. We all need it in order to keep doing our jobs… and we all need it in order to survive.

So, if you understand that more money can come as the result of having more clients in your business, the question then becomes, “How do you attract more clients?”

Based on my experiences, the best way to do this is through the creation of social proof.

Social proof is something one creates in order to prove to others that what he or she says or does is worth paying attention to. In short, it’s a way of building yourself up so that you can sway the actions of a large group of people.

The principle behind social proof is that since most people make the assumption that the people surrounding them possess more knowledge about a particular situation than they do, they will deem the behavior of others as more appropriate or better informed… and therefore, follow in the footsteps of those around them.

Social proof gets people talking about brands. Social proof convinces people to buy a particular product. And social proof sways clients to buy from one business and not another.

The more social proof your business has, the greater your chances of attracting new clients.

In order to attract more clients and make more money, however, you need to create an ever-increasing amount of social proof around your business.

Need more money? Get more clients.

Need more clients? Create social proof.

If you can create enough social proof, you’ll have clients begging to buy from your business. With enough social proof you’ll have clients clamoring to your business.

Social proof is powerful.

If you understand this, you’re on the right track! But the question then becomes, “How do you create social proof within your community?”

One way to do it is through the use of SOCIAL MEDIA.

What you may not realize about social media sites like Facebook and Twitter is that not only are these tools an excellent way of communicating with the citizens in your community… but sites such as these are also one of the best (and fastest) ways of building social proof.

To build social proof with social media, you need to do three things.

1) Increase your follower counts. The more people you have following you on Twitter, subscribing to your RSS feeds, or becoming a fan of yours on Facebook, the more important your business will seem.

2) Get your business’s message to spread online. The more your business’s content is Re-Tweeted, emailed back and forth, voted on, Digged, or StumbledUpon, the more “popular” your organization becomes.

3) Have people talking about your business in the real world. When the story you spread about your business is so great that it has people talking about your institution outside of the World Wide Web, then you know you’ve succeeded in generating positive social proof.

The formula looks like this:

Need more money? Get more clients.

Need more clients? Create social proof.

Need social proof? Harness the power of social media.

Social proof is created by continually proving that your business is an amazing place; that you’re constantly pushing the boundaries; and that your business is doing something special – something others will want to be a part of.

If you are not yet using social media in your business as a tool for communication, marketing, promotion, and social proof creation, now is the time to begin!

Social proof doesn’t just pop up over night. It takes time to build and grow. The longer you wait to get started, the longer it’s going to take before your community starts talking about you and your incredible institution.

What are you waiting for? There couldn’t be a better time to harness the power of social proof through the use of social media!

Start creating your Socia Proof before your competition does!

Is social media making you lonely? Do you not have as many friends as you’d like? Got only a handful of fans on Facebook and just a few followers on Twitter?

You might be thinking to yourself, “What am I doing wrong?”

Today I’d like to address that question and maybe, just maybe, make you a few more friends in the process.

So here’s the deal:

Schools are starting to jump on the social media bandwagon. Their using Facebook. They’re using Twitter. But for many schools, their follower numbers are not nearly as high as they’d like them to be.

“Is this really worth the time and effort?” many are asking.

It Is Worth It

You gotta remember that your school’s social media use (a part of your school’s public relations) is a long term game. Just because you started using Facebook and Twitter a few months ago doesn’t mean that everyone in your area is going to instantly start following you. It just doesn’t work that way!

So first of all, remember that this is a long term game. Take things slow and remember that every Tweet, ever Facebook post, and every message you send to your community is one more step in the right direction.

This is a marathon, not a sprint.

Appreciate The Few Friends You Do Have

Even if you have just a few people following your school online, this is something to be celebrated. The fact that even a handful of people have chosen to listen to you is absolutely incredible.

It’s easy to hear about celebrities having millions of online followers and to think that you and your school should quickly follow suit. But it’s best if you come to terms with reality now and realize that you will likely never have a million people following you and your school online – unless of course you are a major university or some other global brand.

My advice to you here is this: Start treating the few people who are following you now like royalty. Give them great information. Make them laugh. Make them cry. Treat those few people in much the same way you would treat your very best friends.

If you can make those few people love you, they’ll go out and tell others about you. And those people will go out and tell even more people. Word of mouth will spread and before you know it, your follower counts will be up where you want them to be, and the people following you will truly love the information you’re giving them.

Don’t Be Afraid To Weed Out The Bad Seeds

The last thing I want to say about follower numbers is that they don’t mean a whole lot for local businesses and institutions like your own. Because your school is likely located in a single locale, the information you deliver is going to only be of interest to a few select people in your immediate area. This alone means that your follower numbers will never be gigantic.

But what it does mean is that you have an incredible opportunity to network with the few people who really want the information you have to deliver.

Instead of focusing all your energy on the number of people who choose to follow you and your school, focus your energy on building your school’s brand. Make every Tweet matter. Make every post count! The people who want your information will stick around and the people who don’t care will eventually go away. Don’t be afraid to weed out the people who aren’t interested in what you have to say, because they don’t really “count” anyway. Instead, focus on the people you are truly trying to reach… and forget the rest. It sound counter-intuitive, but it works.

Advanced Techniques For Increasing Your Follower Count

If you’d like to learn more about how to connect online with people in your community and increase your follower counts, Then click here to learn from Social Media Experts.

In the course I will share with you a number of free and easy things you can do to connect with your community online, build a raving fan base, and increase your social media follower numbers.
